Celebrating 30 Years of Complicite

Over the last thirty years, Complicite have earned their reputation as one of the most ground-breaking theatre companies creating work for the stage – including the Barbican stage such as 2007’s A Disappearing Number and the critically acclaimed The Master and Margarita in 2012 and again in 2013. Continually pushing boundaries and challenging us to think outside the norms of what theatre can be, Complicite have also contributed not only to our main theatre programme but also our creative learning projects, most notably curating the Barbican Box in 2012-13 and returning for 2013-14, encouraging their innovative approach to theatre making in young people around East London.

As part of the National Theatre’s live Platform event series, artistic director Simon McBurney and producer Judith Dimant speak to the Barbican’s Director of Arts, Louise Jeffreys, reflecting on the impact Complicite have had on theatre in the UK and internationally.
