‘It’s a look very much associated with the sea’

Who knew the 19th Century French Navy were so stylish?

Inspired by the nautical style of French sailors and Coco Chanel’s 1917 collection, as well as his own marinière outfits as a child, the stripe and Gaultier is a classic combination, adapting the design for couture and pret-a-porter.
