The tale of King Arthur

Thursday 21 September 2017

On 3 Oct the Academy of Ancient Music, RSC actor Ray Fearon and an outstanding vocal cast present an intriguing, dramatic reimagining of Purcell’s semi-opera King Arthur by visionary director Daisy Evans. Taking the original work as inspiration, she uses it to reflect on what it means to be British in a post-Brexit world.

But for now, follow us as we look backwards at the magical, mythological, medieval Britain of Purcell and librettist John Dryden’s epic as originally conceived, where the future of Britannia rests on the shoulders of King Arthur…

Purcell’s King Arthur takes place Tue 3 Oct in our Hall.
