We look back at some of the highlights from our Instagrammer in Residence, Abigail (@akidinlondon) and share some of our favourite shots.
Throughout February, she explored Agadir after the 1960 earthquake in Yto Barrada’s Agadir, got to know our Brutal towers in our Architecture Tour, visited the village from FC Bergman’s 300 el x 50 el x 30 el, and headed to the margins with our photography exhibition Another Kind of Life: Photography on the Margins. Head to our Instagram to see her photos.
The Barbican in shapes. I’m yet to find a place on the estate where the towers are completely out of sight. They’re like watchtowers. Or guardian angels. Or both. . . . . . #igbarbican #shadowplay #doitfortheprocess #uk_shooters #thisislondon #shutup_london #london_only #unlimitedlondon #londoncalling #londoncollective #lumix #lumixlife
‘This man was just as mesmerised by the pillars as I was. From where I stood it felt like the pattern could have gone on for miles.’ We love this mysterious photograph, taken by our Instagrammer in Residence Abigail (@akidinlondon). Head to our blog (blog.barbican.org.uk) to read our interview with her. If you’d like to find out more about the Barbican and its fascinating history, join our Architecture Tours to learn more about the construction, design and influence of the estate. Head to our website (barbican.org.uk) or call our Box Office (020 638 8891) for more information on our #BarbicanTours.
We invited our Instagrammer in Residence, Abigail (@akidinlondon) to experience #YtoBarrada’s new Curve commission, ‘Agadir’… ‘Agadir’ explores the way a city and its people reinvent themselves following disaster, and features live performances, sculptures, murals and collages… ‘Agadir’ is on in The Curve until 20 May – free entry
Another Kind of Life: Photography on the Margins – on at the Barbican gallery until May. Casa Susanna was a space run for transgender women in the early 60s. The photos on show here literally feel like a collection of family photos and they’re beautiful. . . . #AnotherKindOfLife #igbarbican #casasusanna #transgender #reflections #londoncalling
